Gender-affirming care is healthcare that supports a person in living as the gender they know themselves to be. It accepts, embraces, and honors all of the complexities of gender and supports people in aligning their inner identity with their outward expression.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT)

What is Gender-affirming Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)?
HRT is a medically supported way to help transgender and non-binary folks align their internal knowing with external physical characteristics.
Masculinizing HRT (Testosterone therapy): Testosterone promotes a deeper voice, increased muscle mass and strength, fat redistribution, and facial and body hair growth
Feminizing HRT (Estrogen therapy and/or anti-androgens): Estrogen promotes breast growth, fat redistribution towards curves, softer skin, and decreased spontaneous erections.
Typically, HRT is classified under masculinizing and feminizing, though it’s important to note that non-binary individuals may not identify with these categories and may use micro-dosing or customized approaches to meet their goals.
As a naturopathic doctor, I combine gender-affirming HRT with holistic support to help you transition and affirm your gender in the safest and most balanced way possible. Integrative support may include support for hormone metabolism, metabolic and adrenal function, and cardiovascular health.

What to Expect in your Gender-affirming HRT Journey:
First Visit (90-120 minutes)
Comprehensive intake including:
Review of your current and past medical history
Discuss your transition goals
Answer any questions you might have
I’ll provide an order to get your labs drawn.
Follow-up visit and lab review (75 minutes)
Lab review: We’ll discuss your lab results in-depth and address any necessary changes prior to starting HRT to ensure safety and efficacy.
I’ll perform a physical exam and do vitals (blood pressure, temperature, heartrate, etc.)
Provide holistic support recommendations for health optimization, such as supplements or referrals.
Discuss risks, benefits, and informed consent of hormones
If hormones are a good fit for you, a prescription will be sent to the pharmacy.

Follow-ups happen monthly for the first 6 months and then every 3-6 months. These visits ensure safety, monitor interactions, and adjust doses as needed.

Some insurances allow for out-of-network visits with naturopathic doctors and a superbill can be provided to you. You should check with your insurance provider regarding your coverage.
